Beliefs

Please keep in mind that this is a summary of our theological beliefs. To view our full convictions, please reference the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three persons are the Trinity; they are equal, completely sovereign, and are one. (Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; John 14:16; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Eternal Security

God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ. Because of this, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self effort. Therefore, we cannot lose it. (John 6:37, 10:9; Hebrews 13:5, 7:25, 10:10; 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God's Son. He was born of a virgin as both God and man, lived a sinless life, and died on a cross to atone for the sins of God's elect. He was buried, but rose from the grave, and ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God in glory, and is interceding for us. One day, He will literally return to earth for God's chosen. (Matthew 1:21; Luke 19:10; John 3:14-16, 14:6; Romans 5:8; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 5:12)

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ can we be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment we come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as the only Lord and Savior of our life. (Romans 5:1, 6:23, 10:9; Ephesians 1:13, 2:8-9; John 11:25, 14:6; 1:12, Galatians 2:20, 3:26)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with everything that is needed for life and godliness through Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25)

The Bible

The Bible is the ultimate authority of the truth for the Christian's beliefs and living. Human authors, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote the bible. Therefore, it is inspired by God, and is truth without error. (2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20; Psalm 119:105,160, Psalm 12:6, Proverbs 30:5)

Mankind

We are all created in the image of God. We are the supreme objects of God's creation. Without Christ, men are dead in their sins because of disobedience towards God. Man's hope in salvation is found in Christ alone. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2; Romans 3:23)

The Church

The church is the body of Christ and the family of God. It is made up of saved and baptized believers, who observe the Sabbath Day, and regularly join together for worship, fellowship, and ministry. The church is a living, spiritual body, where each member supports each other towards spiritual growth in Christ Jesus. (Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Hebrews 10:25)

Baptism

A believer is baptized (by immersion) as an outward sign of his confession of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is a beautiful picture of the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:9; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:1-4, 8:38-39; Colossians 2:12)

Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is an ongoing symbol remembering our Lord's death, burial, resurrection, and promised return. Through the breaking and eating of the bread, and drinking of the fruit of the vine, we remember Christ's wounded body on the cross, and the blood that was shed for our sins. (Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
